A Motivational Kick in the Pants to Finish Your Book
/How long has your book been calling you? How long have you known you were meant to be a writer? Has a new manuscript been dancing in your head for a while, but you weren’t sure how to make the journey?
That’s about to change.
Your life fits a larger plan, but in order to make it reality, you need to open up your internal messaging system, i.e. inspiration. Writing a book is about connecting deep and expressing yourself, despite all the distractions. If you’re reading this book, you’ve heard the call, and the story you have locked inside matters to more than just you.
When ideas flood your imagination it’s no small miracle. You connect to spiritual guidance and inspiration through the crown chakra. We use it when we pray. In Christianity it’s depicted as a halo. The crown is where life experience meets divine inspiration. It connects you to your highest vision for yourself.
Whenever you answer inspiration simply by taking notes, you’ll get detailed instructions on how to continue. The crown chakra is like an antenna for these messages. It’s also referred to as a thousand petaled lotus. It’s a flower that blossoms into infinity. The more you follow up, the more you receive. Don’t underestimate the spiritual resources that will align to help you. That’s why I want to share this simple mantra: Trust the crown, write it down.
You’re the only person who can write your book. Only you can contribute your unique experience mixed with the inspiration only you are receiving. Sure, there will lessons to learn, and challenges to overcome.
Do you doubt this?
Do you feel like writing a sexy romance isn’t going to save the world? Do you think your memoir is self-indulgent? Do you think your weight loss system or healing modality has already been done before? Doubts are natural, but they don’t have to stop you. Your soul calling is significant.
When clients tell me all the reasons they shouldn’t write a book… (Who am I to become an author? What will people think of me? What if my words offend someone in my family?) I always ask them to repeat this simple Norwegian mantra:
“Don’t fret, it’s going to turn out differently anyway.”
Engaging the creative process has a subtle way of moving your life around in preparation for what’s to come. When you write down your honest thoughts on paper, energy shifts. And the best news is, you don’t have to publish tomorrow. You can take your time and get used to the idea of speaking your truth.
That’s what’s so great about the writing. I’m not asking you to quit your job or leave your relationship or even give up sugar. Instead I’m asking you to take this small, spiritual action of expressing what’s inside of you. All it takes is pen and paper.
Writing down words on paper isn’t difficult, nor does it take a lot of time. The meaning is what distinguishes it from the emails, grocery lists and post-its that we scribble off every day. This is where leaning on the crown chakra comes in handy. Remember, great books begin on napkins.
It’s ironic, but often it’s the significance of the work that blocks it. You care so much it feels like a big risk to spend time going for it. On the other hand, we’ll waste hours in front of Netflix or random things without noticing. The fact that this journey is so personal and we want it so badly.
